will an explorer II upper shaft fit an xs?

think i might have found a used x-1 probe for my buddy's xs, but it's mounted on an explorer II upper shaft. will it work on his xs? thanks.

Neal the ex2 shaft will fit in the xs,but is somwhat loose.I was able to remedy this with a few wraps of clear packing tape that cannot be seen.
