Will GTI 2500 substantially reduce digging trash

nafunk

New member
I currently have an ACE250. I find that it is very accurate, but I am still digging a lot of crushed or shredded aluminum cans at 6" to 8" depth. And digging in this Louisiana clay isn't fun. To compound the problem I have a little arthritis in my fingers which is aggravated from the excessive digging.

My question is will the GTI 2500 (or GTI 1500) substantially reduce digging false targets?

Any information is greatly appreciated?

Yes it will. Once you use the sizing feature, and know its potential, your coin count will increase dramatically! Go for it.....

Yes the imaging will eliminate most of this problem. Are you getting belltones on this canslaw? And have you tried sizing the target with the coil or detuning the target to shrink it down?

One trick I've heard about weeding out cans is
to bring the coil up off the ground a few inches
to a foot or so, and see if it still sounds.
Usually a can will still ring due to it's large
size, where as the coin will be long gone due to
it being small. Yep, those imaging machines should
help, as they show an appx size, and have more
accurate depth reading that is supposably not restricted
to "coin size". But you might try the cheapy method
to see if it will work... :)

small pieces of aluminum cans will mostlikely show a "B" or coin sized targets anyway. Also, the imaging feature is only accurate for about the first 4-6" after that, you best dig if it's an A, B, or C sized target or you'll be leaving some good stuff in the ground. Also, if you want nickels, you will have to dig some trash.

But I'm a major Fisher fan, but when I went from the CZ3d, (constantly diggin trash) to the GTi1500 and only diggin trash on rare occassions, I was in hog heaven. It's one of the best coin machines around.

Yes sometimes I get a good belltone and display in the coin mode using my ACE250. To some extent I have been able to minimize digging can-slaw by moving around the target in a circular fashion. Also sometimes when in pinpoint mode I can determine trash by a strange 'out of phase sound' sound or by determining the size of the object and utilizing the detuning method.

Even with this, I still am digging a lot of trash. An many of these locations the Parish (county) uses fill from cleaned out ditches as cheap fill for public properties (schools, parks, etc) then topping with top soil.
