Will someone make a DD coil!!!!!! N/T *N/T*

Hi Don,
You will have to be a little patient, I'm afraid. DD coils cannot be fitted to older Goldscans without lots of mods, which I don't have the time to get involved in. I do plan on having both DD and mono coils for a proposed new unit, but I haven't got to the stage yet of designing the DD for it; still working on the control unit prototype. By the way, Minelab DD's will not work on my machines without loss of performance, as the TX winding characteristic is not right.
Eric.

Hi Don,
I own a Goldscan and a Beachscan and both would require internal modifications before a person could use a DD coil.
In other words, just having a DD coil that would plug into either of the units I mentioned above would NOT work as a DD normally would work.
A person would have to modify the PC board and probably add a resistor or two for the unit to work with a DD coil. Also, the wiring would have to be changed so the receive portion was not connected to the transmit coil as it is today.
I have looked at this briefly and decided that I didn't want to tackle it at this time. Not that it might be so difficult, but because I didn't have the form for the coil, and don't have extra plugs.
Instead, I have elected to first add and then increase the autotune speed, and then I increased the sensitivity of the Goldscan. The combination works quite well. Now, if I can eliminate the background hum, this will be a screamer of a machine. That is my next project.
Even if I get all the changes made on the Goldscan, I plan on purchasing one of Eric's new Goldscan 5's when it is done. I prefer the VLF type audio, which I am sure Eric will add on his future gold machine.
