Window shopping

I'm window shopping on the net for a new detector and I'm wondering if anyone in the club has any thoughts? I've talked myself into wanting a waterproof model and have kind of narrowed it down to three, if you can call that narrowed. Excalibur, Infinium, or Whites. I've checked KellyCo's comparison page and the manufacturer's pages and would welcome any input, biased or not. My Garrett's a VLF and was thinking of getting a PI. Which means the Infinium, but apparently it doesn't discriminate, or is it, it doesn't pinpoint? After looking at all the choices my brain starts to mush!

I wish there was one that did it all.

The only experience I have had with waterproof detectors were the White's BH ID and the Tesoro Tiger Shark, I liked both. The PI units are the deepest but like you said, very little or no discrimination so if you are hunting in a trashy spots the PI is not a good choice. The White's Dual Field is a top rated PI for beach hunting as well. There is a real nice PI Pro on the classifieds for $500 and a Fisher CX20 for $375, and a Tiger Shark for $425......... all are nice machines and will get the job done. If you are going to hunt in salt water a multi frequency detector would be the better choice but in fresh water a single frequency will work just fine. Good luck deciding.
