Just a thought, have you tried contacting Sun-Ray?

Here we go again. Lacking somebody giving you the right color codes for that coil you'll have to figure it out for yourself. Use an ohm meter to take various resistance readings of two wires at a time to each other. Dig down in this forum a page or two for a thread I started called "Proper Color Codes For SEF Coils" or something like that. There is a thread on the Excals somebody posted but one of two other threads I posted will contain specific resistance readings for the TX and RX coils, along with the proper plug pin outs. While these are for SEF coils my stock 10" coil had similar readings, as should any other coil for the Sovereign. They all have to work within certain parameters in order to run properly on the machine. That's why the resistance numbers should be very similar. The RX coil circuit probably could vary widely in numbers based on the configuration of the Pre-Amp circuit they used on that end but that doesn't matter. Just look for two wires that when tested for resistance across each other pretty much match what I listed for the TX coil.

Now, polarity might be an issue, in particular it should be on the RX side I think (from memory). I'll tell you what. List all the resistance readings for all the wires paired together in various configurations and I'll sort that out for you if you want. Once you find say the TX wires everything else should fall into place fairly easy.

On the other hand, you could dig up some current S-12 coil color codes on the web. There is a good chance that the wire colors match. Even better, scroll down the message forums to Sun Ray and then ask in that forum, and while you're at it shoot a PM to the moderator there. Since they made that coil I'm sure they'll be happy to help. I always assumed the Ultra Depth was an 11" solid Minelab made coil? Does anybody know if there a Minelab one in that size range? Seem to remember references to an old white 11" coil.

I posted a wiring diagram for a coinsearch 8 incher a little over a year ago on this forum. Some jerk from ebay sold me a bad coil and i went nuts trying to fiqure the color/number to pin code. i will see if i can find it,but i remember the white wire was not used-if that helps. sam in ms
P.S. that was for an XS, not the ELITE

I remember i searched out at least 2 different schematics, 1 was correct for my sov xs with 8 inch coil, no harm was done by experimenting-but be patient- those pins gave me the most problems soldering. Here is the link for the diagram that helped someone with the s-12 : http://www.findmall.com/read.php?21,921655,921710#msg-921710
Hope that helps.sam in ms
