Women Hired To Demine 136,000 Land Mines...... I Wonder If The New "GARRETT RECON-PRO AML-1000" Is Being Utilzed?

Not trying to get political or politically correct, but an all female crew have been formed to demine the Jordanian-Syrian boarder, to remove 136,000 mines. A huge challenge in itself. Garrett has a new metal detector design, the RECON-PRO AML-1000 http://www.garrett.com/recon/r_aml_1000_view_detector.htm which has some incredible features.

Check out the article below on the all female demining crew:

Have you bought one yet?

Chris

I don't believe I'd detect anyplace in the Middle East.

I dont think they are availiable to the general public. I would like one for sure.

Last time I talked to Vaughan Garrett he said they are selling them all over the world. You might contact him or someone at Garrett and see if they're available.

I spoke with Melinda today, and she said they are not for the general public, and you have to have a course before you can use one. Kinda sounds like the new Whites Spectra V3.

Interesting link. Thanks for sharing. It's a terrible shame, the affects of wars long past still taking toll on innocent civilian populations throughout the world. Landmines don't discriminate between enemy soldiers or innocent farmers or children at play, etc...

My hats off to Garretts and others that come out with innovative machines designed to help eliminate this problem from the face of the world as well as assist our troops overseas.
Garrett machines were used to clear untold thousands of landmines on the Saudi Arabia/Kuwait border after the Gulf War.
Cheers to those brave souls who dare to clear minefields.
I was a Combat Engineer in the U. S. Army and served in Operation Desert Storm. Thank God I did not have to put my training in mine detecting into practice during that conflict.
Fabulous instrument, that Recon Pro, from looking at the description on Garrett website. Light years ahead of what we had back in the day. Truly amazing. Makes my imagination run wild dreaming about what their next hobby detector will be like. Hopefully we find out soon.
Happy Hunting:garrett:

Maybe it will be a clone of the Recon- Pro. :)

Man, that would be too cool! I'll take one!:detecting:

Yea, I used to be an Army Combat Engineer too, (Minefields), it's a science in its own right. They have non-metal mines made of plastic explosive and fiberglass or plastic PVC type containers, the fuse assemblys are non metal too, you'd need to put a non-metallic detector ahead of a "metal" detector to keep from activating (read that as "detonating") a non metallic mine. No second chances in this situation.

and dont forget about all those perverts too..the ones who like kids...put them all in the front and then at the end make sure theyll do some testing of mines too...:clapping::thumbup:
