Wondering........a coil question?

Ivan

I wonder how the new 7" coil on the Mojave compares to the 8" brown round concentric of the Compadre. I hope once more people get their hands on a Mojave........we might see what kind of differences there are in the performance of these two coils. Just wondering!!

The Mojave with the 7in is about 2 in deeper in my highly mineralized soil than the compadre.

I think that the added depth is a result of the detector electronics and not the coil? Wonder if the 8" round concentric can be put on the Mojave........................now ther's an idea !!

Well I can try and do some tests but it's still wintery here.
I wanted to use my outlaw as the test bench. That way I can ground balance it. Putting one otlr the other on opposite machines wouldnt be very fair because each are set to their coils at factory.
But if I use them both on my outlaw or bandido II micromax, then it's more fair of a direct comparison.
However that would just be coil for coil.
The Mojave is a jacked up machine compared to the compadre so that's still open for discussion.
Even though I have the Mojave and will be taking it out first because it's new, I'll always keep my compadres :)
They've done too well for me and all that I've gotten interested in the hobby by letting them use them as their first detector. It was also my first real one after my ace 350 which, to me, can't hold a candle to the compadre, let alone it's bigger brothers.

I'm hoping there are others with test beds that can run these tests though. I have no way to test besides air and that's not the best method.

no real way to test what's best that's why there's some fun debates on metal detecting forums, what works for me might have you in the nut house and V.V so I test myself for what fits me and get rid of the rest for someone else to test :buds:

went detecting with a mate both using same detector modal brand he had stock coil I had AM coil I said sure could hear the iron today he said he wasn't hearing it , I walked away with the silver and he didn't is one better than the other, I have no idea but I find something that works for me I stick to it until I find better....

but I will keep my 7" Compadre as its a classic and well hard to find a real nice one and its not to shabby a detector as well.

Oh and for how it works on your 4 pins do you recommend it in the 5 pin model for the outlaw and my 5 pin machines?

for sure it works on the 5 pin modals I will be putting one on the Mojave have used it on outlaw and modded compadre, works great

might grab another one soon cause you just never know when they may disappear

Oh I didn't know you had the 5 pin model too.
Starting a new thread with questions. This one off track enough
