Woods hunt yields a variety.

Having had three days of rain, gloomy conditions and then starting last night, flurries of that dreaded white stuff, I was glad to see it all ending by around 8a this morning, so I grabbed the Omega and headed out to the woods. Over all, I dug more keepers then the norm, but no silver coins. I did, though, manage a small 925 silver ring, a 10k g.f. band and a Saint Christopher medal, a 41 wheat, some clad and Memorial cents and a variety of other targets. Sorry about the picture, but I was hurrying as my camera battery was about to croak. Had on the 10" coil, sen 99, disc 1, d4 tones and a g b of 58-62. HH jim tn

Great finds jim!!! You had a great day!! Sux the seasons gonna be over any day now! Gotta get it in while we still can! I went out today for 2 hrs at our local park in nazareth and pulled out 5 wheaties and a 46 Rosie! Not a bad short hunt! What do you think about hunting in the woods? I just started detecting this summer and used a fisher f2 so I never had any luck in the woods. Theres a section of woods at our local park that has a ton of history and I know people have pulled alot of seated coins from back there but the f2 didnt stand a chance. Now that i have a T2 I wanna get back there and give it another go! Cant wait actually! Just wondering what your opinion of hunting in the woods is or if you have any pointers? I always was kind of intimidated by the woods because of all the leaves and stuff that fall every year you would think the relics and coins would be too deep. From what Im learning though that doesnt seem to always be the case.

If the woods has history like you say, man, get in there and hunt it hard. My main swing is the F 75 LTD, so most of my finds and posts are on the Fisher forum. The majority of my recoveries are 5" and less. If the site has been hunted some, just be sure and stick your coil under every low hanging branch and shrub. What is growing today might not have been 50 to 150 years ago. I love woods hunting, as not everyone does. Good luck! HH jim tn
