Working 1800s brass padlock

Found a cool 1800s era padlock at an old site. Still works as good as the day it was dropped there.
 
That's a great find, and I loved the pictures showing the site and the lock. Since you say it still works, and you show it both open and closed, does that mean you found the key Also?

No, it was open when I dug it and the hinge worked like it was new. I clicked it shut and it locked. I was able to pick it with a paper clip to reopen. Idk how people kept things safe back then. No wonder they robbed trains and wagons all the time!

sweet site.. wouldn't it be nice if you found the key there in the future...
