Worth getting an 11" coil this year - will XP replace it?

Damianicus

New member
So we know a new 9" coil is coming in 2016, and that makes me nervous about dropping $500 on a 11" at this point. Anyone have a suggestion or heard anything more about what's coming?

"we know a new 9" coil is coming in 2016"

How do we know this besides hearsay or an unverified report the Alain said something on the radio? Can you provide a link or proof? Inquiring minds want to know.................

They Skyped XP headquarters at the last Deus Bootcamp and XP claimed a new program and 9" Coil would be coming first of 2016.
I've had my Deus with 9" for a year and I'm really ready to move up in size. But I'm hesitant to drop nearly the cost of my AT Pro on a
larger coil only to have a new one come out months later.

Just more hearsay.
Are you referring to this post? http://www.findmall.com/read.php?83,2208026
Nothing about a 9" here just a new coil---could be anything
Just who is "They"?

I have read somewhere the new coil is 6x9", but can't remember where I read it. But Andy does provide good info. And XP when they release stuff---no playing around---downloads work and so do new coils. They in my book deserve "First Place" for releasing a flagship detector with no/few glitches. They are a cut above IMO in the overall quality dept. And they don't get in a hurry either.

So you don't KNOW any more than anyone else , right?

I'd say that's a fair statement. Release coming later this year, early next year with new coil.......For all of new update to work, new coil is required. Some of the update can be used with older coils.

Bummer!
As the OP shows there are people trying to make purchasing decisions in the face of unsubstantiated rumors.
Not cool,,,I'd like to see those who started the rumors like that come forth and either confirm or deny them.
It's the RIGHT thing to do.

"unsubstantiated rumors"
Yep That's what they are!!
Remember all the rumors flying about V3.2
Some people have no patience

"They" would be the attendees of the Boot Camp. And I read new program and a 9" coil to take advantage of it.
The 11" is newer so the question for me is will it have tech to use the new program or need replaced as well.
Hence my "still having to use the 9 on large areas. and a new coil is 'spensive" pain.

@ OP~~~

I personally will be waiting for the new version and coil, but I'm currently using the 11"....

I'd wait if you can; once it's released we will know price/features gained...

Not sure why there is all this 'doubt'; the president of the company told us all that was happening via skype...and Sabisch has indicated precisely the same in the linked post above...same info on Brit forums, etc.

I messaged Andy directly on Facebook and got this reply:

Damian, There is a new coil coming which will be paired with the newest version of the software, V4.0. The coil is elliptical in shape and will be a 6"x9" size so there is no new 11" in the works. The 2-box Hoard Hunter will also be released. The release date has NOT been set and as those who are familiar with XP know, it won't be until Alain and his team are satisfied with the performance and it has been thoroughly tested - at this point it is tentatively the end of 2015 / early 2016 for the smaller coil & V4.0 to be released. This information comes from Alain; however, specifics about the coil / software are not available for release at this time. Hope this answers your questions. Andy

And so I got my answer, seems safe to get an 11" this year. A new 6x9 seems interesting, looking forward to more info.

The effort to nail down some concrete information is most appreciated

Theres even a better coil coming out in 200000 I cant wait for it ,can anyone tell me how good it will be?

The 11" coil is a good universal coil. The new one from what we hear until now will have its benefits, but also its assumed drawbacks, such as less area coverage, eventually more battery consumption and such ... less the generalist like the 9 and 11", but a specialist for certain scenarios and areas.
Best greetings from Germany
