WOT Gets A Silver Quarter On Edge!

I played hookey from work and went hunting for a while this afternoon at an old park's ball field I have hunted for years but this time I had the WOT!
I wasn't finding anything old (but did dig a lot of DEEP signals that turned out to be trash) so I headed back towards the truck and on the way got this really strange signal that bounced all over the top of the screen and screamed like a banshee!
I pulled a nice coffee can size plug and stuck the X1 in. It screamed and I looked at the display and it was locked on quarter . I pulled out some more dirt and saw the rim of a silver coin! It was on edge straight up and down!
This is the first coin I can remember finding that was 100% vertical. At first I thought it was a half because it looked thick! I was going to get a picture of it but when I got to the truck my camera wasn't there unfortunately. I measured it with the knife and checked with the tape measure when I got home. Turned out to be 6" from the top of the rim to the grass line!
I found the other coins with the WOT on Sunday. The barber dime was deep and gave Guy an iffy signal with his 10.5 stock coil. With the WOT it was a solid definite digger. The others were all deep too. I had hunted the same spot hard last year and found a lot of silver coins but obviously missed a few!

Nice finds! I have the WOT too. I can say I have had similar experiences. Signals that were real iffy on the stock really sounded good on the WOT. I have found alot of coins that were almost vertical that the stock didn't sniff out. The WOT can hit almost all of coins I buried in my coins garden. Once it settles down I am fairly certain I will hit all of them... I hope... The WOT loves deep dimes too. I took the WOT to an old park (now woods) this spring that has been hunted very hard for alot of years. I found a Seated Quarter up there two years ago with the Explorer. This year in an afternoon I found 6 IHs, 2 Wheaties, 1 Barber dime, and a V nickel... That's saying ALOT at this park. I know of people who have hunted his park several times before me and came away with nothing.

That was years ago. However, the ability of the WOT to find coins on edge was one of the things Andy found intriguing.
Nice finds, thank you for the report and pictures!

Doc,
You're right as far as my intial report a few years back . . . . . surprised me with the ability to hit coins on edge that the stock coil had problems with.
I have used the WOT on my Quattro recently and have found several coins - including a nice Standing Liberty quarter which had been close to 7" deep - at or near vertical. I have been real careful in recovering targets to see how deep they are and what their orientation was so I am confident that the coins were actually on edge before recovering them.
Not sure what it is about the WOT, but its ability to detect coins on edge at respectible depths is unique when compared to the stock coil or other after-market coils.
Great product for the right location . . . . thanks for carrying them Doc!

Great finds Keith. Thats it, I'm moving to Indiana . The grounds frozen here. Hard to get the shovel in the ground. Kieth, I hope you have a Merry Christmas and a happy year and keep the magic stick swinging.
Tom

that barber was iffy, very deep, iron one way, silver the other, you all know the signal, now i/we know!

Thanks Tom and Merry Christmas to you and yours as well! I think the season is over. We got about an inch of the white stuff last nite and it is supposed to go down to 6 above tonite Oh well that will give me time to clean up what I found last year!

I had a WOT and didn't like it...looks like it has been nice to you tho...congrats on a edged silver quarter!!
