WOT or Platypus?

A

Well, I would like to know the opinion of someone who has both.......I want to add to my 5"/8"/10.5 inch coils, so, for relic/coin/treasure with the EXII, which coil is better?
How about just for coins?
I understand that the Platy can get into places that the WOT can't, but how about depth? Clarity of signal? Anomalies?
Thanks
Dennis

Dear Doc, et al,
I hunt in varied conditions. I am more likely to hunt old homesites than school yards, and I love old battle grounds.
The issue to me, is the difference in depth potential, vs. ease of use in brush, etc.
I am asking for overall impressions on the difference in depth more than anything. If there is not a great deal, then the Platypus is probably the one. HOWEVER , if there is a substantial difference of several potential inches for any given target, then the WOT would be it.
Other than that, what else would I look at/for?
Thanks

since you have a 5"and an 8" both of these coils will do in a pinch in trashy areas. the wot far exceeds the 10.5 as far as coverage and depth in my opinion. granted, i have only used the platypus once and have barely scratched the surface on what this coil can do, i would still choose the wot if i were in your situation. on the other side, the exp II feels so much more balanced with the platypus. if nothing else, maybe this post will fire up some debate.

If you are looking for depth the WOT is the way to go if you have the room to swing it. I will be using Platypus in tight spots. They say it has the depth of stock coil or a little better, time will tell. They are both great coils. I use the WOT on plowed fields, at the beach and any place else that is pretty clear to swing. Hope this helps.

Now THAT's WOT I'm Talkin bout! Thanks.
Now, if I can just get DOC to give me a poor ol' retired firefighter hero discount?????!!!!
Oh Do'oc! You listenin?
Dennis, beggin for bucks

The WOT will read a coin on edge much better than the stock coil. Great coil if you need a lot of ground coverage. Not sure yet on the platy, just has come out and have really not used it enough to judge it. Will try a head to head with my two machines, one with the stock and the other with the platy in the next week or so.

And planning on using this weekend. I have pulled 7 1853 to 1887 dimes out of this field, and others have pulled out as many or more. I am hoping with the WOT I can pull 7 more.
