Would be nice to have a 3.6 x 18 coil

Thinking about the last two brief windows of opportunity that allowed me to get out.

I did not grab the F75 LTD although it was calling me to go play.

Why? Headed to a tot lot one time and a sports field the other. For those two types of hunts, when time is short, I sure like the 3.6 x 18 inch coil. Not so much total surface area to be hindered too greatly by masking and nice coverage area per sweep. I like this coil at the beach for the towel, chair and umbrella areas too.

Would be nice to have an equivalent coil for the F75.

To clarify; not with the F75 LTD.

Was using a Tejon that has an optional 3.6 x 18 coil; similar to the bigfoot coil for the Whites detectors. I wish there were one for the F75's. If something close to a 3.6 x 18 was available for the F75 LTD, the Tejon would probably be just a back up and not go hunting on those types of outings.

Certainly agree sweep area would be large, but I don't see how masking would necessarily be less considering the opportunity for iron to be in an 18" x 4" area isn't much different than a 10" or 11" DD area.

Everyone knows I'm not a huge fan of my F75, but I would think the tight DD footprint (not overall surface area in DD) of the 11" coil would be better than an 18X4 in an area you believed masking was more of a factor than usual. The 11" DD will certainly get better depth than White's Bigfoot - don't know about the Tesoro.

Maybe I'm missing something with the "differential" technology term that's thrown around - someone enlighten me. I used the bigfoot on a friends detector one day and felt like a janitor sweeping the grass :)

The standard 11 inch DD coil covers a little more total square inches than a 3.6 x 18 clean sweep coil (it's a DD too); about 67 sq in vs 64.8 sq in. Covering about 7 more inches of ground per sweep times sweep length is nice. Masked or not then becomes a statistical issue on orientation of the metal in the ground. Clean sweep or Bigfoot are not coils to use in very trashy areas.

In a little bit of testing I did with a couple of different coils, as long as coil sweep speed is not too fast, when discriminating out iron, a good target could be seen roughly within the width of the coil from the discriminated out iron. If both discriminated out iron and good target are front to back, a lot depends on which target is deeper and by how much. Have not yet explored what the F75 LTD does with no discrimination in a similar test set up, but it should have an advantage and one can still ignore iron with the tones or ID.

It pays to cover an area twice (at least; if possible) at different angles because of the possibility of a masking target being within the coil width in front of or behind the good target. Most times I don't have time for two times around a tot lot; or even get beyond working one side line or a corner or the center or the goal areas of a sports field at a time.

The 3.6 x 18 clean sweep does loose a little depth over the standard coil. At the dirt areas I normally use it at, it is more than deep enough. The beach, we could argue if area covered or depth is more important. Depends on conditions.

Probably blind luck, but my first beach hunt with the cleansweep paid for the Tejon and the coil. In the right hunting situations, yes I like a coil like this a lot.

There are trashy areas where I've found the F75 LTD with the small coil just kicks anything else I used. The standard coil is very good too. Just not what I want at every place I hunt.

Sometimes I like to be the janitor sweeping the grass. It has been productive when at the right places. Wish I had a similar coil option for the F75 LTD beast.

and have asked Dave to build them. But the response I got was that there was no money in specialty coils.

They are great coils in the right applications and I consider it a 'must have' coil. My latest gold chain was a Cleansweep coil find.

Maybe if the masses chant "Cleansweep" we'll get one for a Fisher unit?

I wonder how Kellyco makes money on their eXcellerator brand of coils? Someone is making a living selling those SEFs too.
