would like owners opinions on the GTP 1350

I've read alot of great reviews about this machine and would like this forums thoughts from owners about it, thanks!

I had one and it really is a great machine for coin hunting,
The only thing I didn't like about it was when you pinpoint something it remains in the pinpoint mode until you push the button again to turn it off, other than that its a great machine.
I now own a 1500 and I do like it much better. Mike

I like the 1350 but it is like gtor72 said it is irritating when you forget to press the pinpoint button a second time to take the machine out of profiling mode. But not nearly as irritating as when you forget to throw the switch back to the coil after using a sunray probe and have covered about 50 ft!!!!!!

Both are great coin shooters, I'd give the edge to the 1350 because of the profiling. I haven't dug nearly as many aluminum cans since I started using it. I don't seem to do very well on nickles with either of them, whch makes me wonder how many gold rings I've left. I love both my Garretts they do exactly what they are supposed to do every single time I use them, no exceptions (knock on wood) I've had the 1250 since 1999!

These are just my observations, for what they're worth. Hope it helps

Steve

A great machine! One of the best coin and jewelery machines available. Below are my finds from using it, and only it for one whole year.

I'm curious.
Why do you like the 1500 better than the 1350?
I own the 1500 and I'm hoping to check out the 1350 next week end.
Mick Evans.

I have a 2500 and a 1350. The 1350 is absolutely great to work with. The only down fall I found was (other than operator error, pinpointer button) if you are pinpointing and profiling a target smaller than a coin, maybe a civil war bullet it tells you it is deeper than it is. It is not exact size of the target more of a general idea, where as, the 2500 tells you the actual size of the target and is almost always right on. You get pretty close to the same depth in disc. mode with both machines and the 1350 is alot cheaper. I have also had a couple months to work with a White's MXT. There is no comparison to the Garrett. It's difficult to use and doesn't have near the bells and whistles. Upgrading to the 1350 is a great idea unless you can foot the price tag of a 2500 or even a 1500.

Well everyone i apreciate your time and thoughts for sure now just got break myself away from tesoro, even though i've found stuff with these that no other detector has i did try recently try the teknetics delta 4000 and what a disapointment it seemed the auto ground balance just wasn't suited for my area in the northeast

Yeah I've owned Tesoros since Jack Gifford first went into business and still have one but Tesoro doesn't offer profiling or imaging which saves a world of unnnecessary digging.

Thanks for your input bigealive. Most detectors get fooled by smaller targets. They are set up with coins in mind.
There sure is a big difference between the Whites units and the Garrett units. I've got an XLT and I'm only just starting to get on top of it. It seems to have a lot of button pressing required to set it up. I've actually got a 1500 and enjoy using it. I'm just curious about the 1350. I had an Ace for a while. I loved the elliptical coil, both for accurate pinpointing and it's sizing ability via it's pinpoint fade.
Bill. Although the 1350 and the 1500 have some common circuitry, it's the differences like the behaviour of the 2 different coils that create different outcomes in the field, that I'm curious about. I assume that the 1350 would have a significantly faster recovery speed than the 1500 or 2500 armed with an imaging coil. I'm sure there must be some other nuances that may create different outcomes as well. ie I'm guessing that the 1350 would handle mineralised situations better than a GTI armed with an imaging coil eta?
Thanks.
Mick Evans.

The 1350 is a little faster on response and recovery plus for whatever reason - ultra sensitive. The GTI's are also sensitive and I've recovered some mind boggling tiny items with all of them. Since they all have automatic ground tracking and Scan Track - plus the new mineral chip, they all handle mineralization pretty well. The soil here in Oregon is volcanic and doesn't get much nastier mineralization wise. A lot of times as I'm recovering a target I hold the detector in my other hand with the coil flat on the ground and the detector goes nuts with the overload signal as it's sitting right on a hot spot.

When I tested the 1350 proto there was an area in a local playground where it went absolutely nuts and sounded like a 50 caliber Thompson going off over a wide area. I informed Garrett that perhaps they should tweak the sensitiviy some. I hit several other spots like tha during the test.t.

THe1350 is a dandy coin and jewelry machine but doesn't give quite the amount of info that the GTI's do, but then that is a matter of one's choice. It's quite sensitve to very small targets. I think you'd be happy with it.

I got out with the 1500 today. I haven't been able to get out with it for a while, so it was good to play with it.
I played around with both the imaging and Scorcher coils. I'm finding that the imaging coil has too many limitations on it to be useful on Aussie coins, but the Scorcher coil is a whole different ball game. A lot of it has to do with the lack of variation on the length of tone that you get off the imaging coil. The sizing feature isn't that helpful either. Given that the 1350 has the elliptical concentric coil, it should give off better info than the DD Scorcher coil. I love that coil on the Ace.
I'm hoping to check a 1350 out next week end if things work out. There is a new Garrett dealer only 300kms away and I'm driving past his front door. I hope that he has one in stock, but he's a back yard dealer so his stock may be limited. I'll ring up first. I'm more curious at the moment as I like what I can do with the 1500 with the Scorcher coil on it, but if I really like the 1350, then who knows. I really shouldn't look though, as I've spent plenty on detectors of late.

You're right! I have managed to part with both my X-Terra 30 and Ace, but I've already bought another new one a few months back and I've got 2 older ones that are playing up a little because they haven't been turned on often enough! Maybe if I buy a new detector accessory, a home back in the big smoke, then my older detectors wouldn't suffer such neglect. My finds would climb though the roof if I could live there (or perhaps my other half my just plant me though the roof in stead ).
