Would the Safari be a good choice

Have an Xterra 705 which I feel is a great detector. Want a 2nd machine a little different to complement the Xterra. Mainly a coinshooter in parks, yards, etc.. My choices are the Safari or MXT. Would it be better to complement the Xterra with another Minelab or a different brand like the White's because you always read how one day this machine outhunts another but the next day visa versa.
Your thoughts please. One thing I don't like are the flutey tones of the Safari but I guess you get used to them. Want a fairly simple machine that's why I didn't list the Explorer type machines.

I cant speak for the 705 but I do have the safari.I love it that is an awsome coin machine.I have found silver over 12 inches it is very deep. Also a great relic machine.I would say the safari is what I would go with but that is just my opinion.

As far as a coin shooter 705 is a much better unit than the MXT as its lighter, superior notching abilities along with tonal options..About the same depth..

The secret of a Safari in conductive is the multi tones although slower than the 705 its much deeper and yep heavier also so ???....

Honestly might look into the coil options of a 705 which might give you what your looking for...

Personally my pick would be a Safari but I love those multi tones and much better depth and can handle the weight and pinpointing for me is a breeze with the 9.5 double D coil which might be defeating your purpose as a Safari although user friendly is a different beast...

The MXT is a fairly similar machine to the Xterra 70/705. I was thinking the same way. I ended up with a used Explorer. If you ask over in the Whites forums you will get a different answer. probably something like get an MXT and use the 705 as a backup.

My thought process ended up being that I wanted a machine with a different set of strengths. I think the MXT is very likely a great machine and would make a good primary or secondary. Probably takes a good while to learn. But, so will the Safari and any other thing you buy, I have a bunch of hours into the Explorer now and it will pull the coins out from under rusty washers and nails. I have not dug any of that 12" Silver yet, but I am not entirely sure I can hear the faint tone, Got some experimenting to do. I have considered the Safari as it is a bit easier to set up and run. OR so they say. If I turn loose of the Explorer it will be for a Sov.

True an Explorer has a learning period....but in my estimation both MXT and Safari are user friendly with the exception one new to a double D coil may be a learning period but the Safari has improved this with blocks showing up on the meter for dead on accuracy or for us old Explorer users the heel to toe method works just fine so the safari gives us two options relative pinpointing. Again having used all three aforementioned units the Safari although heavier and slower would give more depth and the choice is clear as a different unit as indeed the MXT is similiar of the two mentioned units he is interested in. .As the original poster stated he is not used to the flutey tones of the Safari and could be a drawback but indeed would give him another different unit and not a similiar one or for that matter a superior unit to his 705..
