Wouldn't The ACE 250 Make A Great Water Machine....

I figure that an ACE 250 water-proofed would be an incredible machine for freshwater. It's light, good on batteries, gets great depth, has a great price tag, would find gold rings in water etc. I bet it would really get the competitors scratching their heads....

open up the (hollow??)coil, pour in some cement to weigh it down.
Now to see if it would be worthwhile doing, hows the depth and sensitivity compared to a Detectorpro wader? Would it handle the salt beaches as well as the freshwater beaches? Or would it just be a super fresh water machine?

Hmmmmm, need a winter project. Shucks there's no winter here in Georgia...
The woods here are all green and thick already and can see the poison oak starting to grow. The Kudzu is taking over again, sure grows fast, a foot a day. Thorn bushes with thorns that look like sharks teeth and strong as wire...can't just plow thru them, they won't break.

Thought about picking up a 250 for my wife to try when she goes up north to visit.

I agree with John!! Why can't the manufacturrers make an underwater machine that has BELLTONE and a METER!!! I would much rather have that than the Tiger Shark I bought, because I couldn't find what I really wanted....

Yeah the lilacs in my back yard are in full bloom so spring must be here. I was at this park the other day ( and I usually carry some peanuts with me ) and this little squirrell started buddying up with me wanting some hand outs. He followed me all over begging and I felt rotten not having anything to give him. At one time he was sitting on the top of my foot begging his little brains out.

Sometimes I look like Dr. Doolittle with a gaggle of squirrels tailing me all over the park.

John, I'll let you know how the yeller feller does in the fresh water, hmmmm at least to the depth equal to the length of the cable when I attach the control box to my boat and do some wading in a couple weeks, thats the plan since I can't afford a new detector and gas for the boat too!

Anyone know where I can get an extension cord for this thing??????

I was scanning though the explorer forum on the Findmall site about 4 or 6 months ago, and saw a post about a fellow doing just that! He had pictures of it so you can see how it was done. From memory, I think that he got the materials from a diving shop. Apparently the materials are fairly easy to come by. It want do your warranty any favours though. I'm sorry that I can't tell you the name of the post or even when it was posted, but if you go up and click on the search window and type in some key words like underwater explorer, or waterproofing the explorer eta, then it should bring up the post.
Who knows, you could try it with the Ace250!

The coil isn't bouyant. I used my 250 in shallow fresh water (knee deep) the first week I had it (found 3 rings). Wish the control box including display,headphone connection,and adjustment buttons were submersible to say 5 feet. It would be a killer water machine.

Check out this site....although it's related to the minelabs, wouldn't be a far stretch for other machines....might give you some cool ideas....
