I went down to the Post Office, and while there the Post Master noticed my metal detecting club hat. He asked me what kind of detecting I did.
Long story short, I get to hunt his 1850's yard where he lives, and down the street he owns the property where the old town hall sat. I get to hunt that too!
He is into the Civil War so I plan to take some of my collection by to show him, and I also plan to give him a bullet that is the same type that would go to a real Spencer Carbine that he bought for his son. He said a guy came by about 10 years ago and found some bottle caps and other junk. Most of the finds were at 2", so I am thinking cool he got all the junk out of my way! Now if these freezing temps would go away, because we already have some frozen ground! :detecting:

good talker :) Those sites must hold deeper goodies. A woman once let us detect her ranch where a CW fort was. We put together a display of found examples and presented it to her. She cried and said no one had ever done that & we were allowed to come detect any time.

Wow Mike, That is way cool ,please post your finds I can hardly wait.....your bro Daniel

Interesting to say the least, Mike! I've yet to bump into anyone with property dating back beyond the 30's or 40's. That's the 1900's of course. You're one lucky dude.

Sounds like ya just might have almost older virgin territory and, hopefully, some very nice goodies to find! If you can't hunt now maybe in the Spring when the ground is moist and the frozen soil pushes up old coins and relics! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty
