WOW, the E-TRAC is practically an entirely new machine compared to an Explorer...

in my humble opinion-of course there are surely some things that are familiar but at first thought-the control box buttons, feel, weight, and balance, processor speed, pinpoint, ID, and especially the Smartscreen and more for others I'm sure. The control buttons make common sense but still are rather different than the EX XS, II, and SE in the layout and function(expanded). It feels a bit lighter than the EX II and SE with better balance the new 11" coil. The processor speed seems way faster than any of the Explorers. ID-well, the scale is entirely different(expanded) so quarters are no longer 00-29 so we are going to have to learn new numerical ID numbers. The detector seems very stable even in the house. The pinpoint modes surely are different and appear way better than any Explorer as well. Since the smartscreen ferrous and conduct have been changed, that too will take me sometime to get used to. On the multitones, it sounds like an Explorer to me with even crisper sounds. So far, it seems very impressive and I know I need to read the manual in it's entirety probably more than once to be even somewhat comfy at all with this new machine. I'm really interested to see what long time much more experienced users of the EX's think of this one...HH

Yes, Chris we will be a while tweak-in on this one. Of coarse as more hunters on this forum have them in hand the learning curve will shorten as we share different set ups. Good luck taming Jaws this machine in my mind is one KILLER.
Happy Trails
