Got out with my new 8 x 6 coil today and it was so much easier then the 11 stock that came with it. I even took it to a older house. No real goods finds to speak of but my pinpointing was almost dead on and the target separation was excellent. A lot of trash at this house, especially bottle caps. They ring in with a pretty sweet sound but usually come in at a 14,15,16. I can definitely tell if I have a nickel or a bottle cap. Lots of zinc pennies which I thought was weird as this house is very old. No deep finds other then a penny at about 7 and a hot wheel which was probably around 8.
Finally starting to feel better about my pinpointing. Confidence is crucial..........

Its not hard, its just another thing to learn. Learn the Safari song and you will have a whole lot of fun, and really, thats what its all about anyway, happy hunting!:detecting:

I luv my 8x6 too, I hardly ever use the stock 11 any more unless I'm hunting a wide open area. The small coil is so much easier on my arm and shoulder

You probably already know this but to get the most out of that 6x8 you must run manual sensitivity it means 2 to 3 inches extra in depth than auto in some soils.

I like to use ferrous sounds on the safari will help making non coin items keep from sounding like a coin. Silver really stands out and iron does not stand a chance. I used mainly relic mode last two years on the safari but at first used coins mode and cross saved relic tones well ferrous tones in coin mode. Will help with iron if nothing else. Wont let iron sound off like a coin nine times out of ten.
