WOW! What a great weekend!........ LONG!

Started off Friday evening with the family going to the apple orchard that belongs to my wifes cousin. We picked about 1,000 apples that will go into apple sauce, turnovers etc....

Then Saturday morning my daughter Shelby and I packed up and headed towards Lake Michigan for our detecting clubs fall hunt. We got to the grounds and set up our tent. Then a member came up to me and showed me a womens wallet that he had found in the road a few miles away. It had everything still inside. I called information and was able to get a phone number and left a message on their machine. They live about 40 miles from where we were. We then headed to the beach. We no longer got out of the car and my cell rang. It was the lady who lost the wallet. She was only a few blocks away from the beach.
Her and her daughter walked down and we were able to return it, smiles all around! :) We then walked down to the lake and two ladies who were foriegn tourists approached me and Shelby and asked where they might rent a detector. I sensed they were looking for something. I asked why, and they said that their friend had lost a precious necklace that her mom gave to her years ago and she had been crying for hours. I said we would be glad to help find it. They said it was down the beach. Well we walked for 1/2 mile before we got to them. About 15 seconds and one scoop later it was hanging out of the scoop!
Tears, and hugs all around! It was a beautifl heavy 14K long chain style necklace with a quarter sized solid gold pendant that was of a womans head. My camera was a 1/2 mile back so they took several pics and plan to email them to me. They offered payment but I said her smile was reward enough!

We then went all the way back to where we started and only found a few coins and two hot wheels cars before we had to head back to camp.

We then had a cache hunt with the club. There were 12 caches of coins buried and 65 buffs and V's. There were 13 of us searching. They said Go, and I went four steps and nailed a cache! Then a couple nickels them BAM! another cache! I thought man I am doing real good! a couple nickels later and BAM another cache! Now I am feeling bad even though I was now where the biggest part of the 13 had started. 4 feet to the right and another nickel, then as I got ready to move I heard another good beep inches from where the nickel was and WOW another cache! I said that's it and walked off the field. I already had more than my share. This was no more than 5 minutes into the hunt! I thought a few seconds then turned my machine back on and it was only a short few swings and beep! I made a big X over it and looked for who was close and said Hey Leslie here is one and I walked away. I did that with about 8 targets before things pretty much finished up. I figured, I could help others find them because I had enough already! :)

We then settled around the camp fire till midnight with a beautiful star filled sky. I had a very rough nights sleep in the tent with a very stiff back the next morning I tossed and turned all night and was out of bed at sunrise to start the final day!

The last day consisted of a light breakfast, then a church service, a kids hunt, a pot luck dinner, main hunt A, and main hunt B then we finished with receiving our prizes for the tokens we found and clean up and a tired 67 miles home! What a great weekend of fun, fellowship, friends, food, and finds! :)

What a great weekend with my daught who now has to hunt with the adults as she is to old for the kids hunt. She did pretty good considering she was about 20 years younger than anyone out there! Actually she did better than some! :) Thank you Lord for a blessed weekend! :)

Mike, you and your daughter had a very good time and lots of friends, so no wonder you had a wonderful weekend. The two good deeds brought you and Shelby finds of your own and great silver finds at that! I sure miss our club hunt but I just cannot do it any more and too hard on me to go and not be able to detect! May the blessings keep flowing and your good health keep going!

God Bless!
Betty

My dealer loaned it to me just for the comp hunt. Nice and light weight! :)

Mike, Anna and I had tons of fun. Anna really enjoyed talking with Shelby, quite the polite young lady. Sorry we missed the adventures on Saturday.
