WTB: a Tesoro uMax model that doesn't work

I've got the resources (software and CNC machines) to design and manufacture a watertight enclosure for a Tesoro uMax model. Ultimately I would like to make a waterproof Golden with external GB that can be submersed to wading depths.

What I'm hoping to get is someone's old Tesoro that is ready for the trash. That's probably not going to be easy to find, with the legendary Tesoro warranty. I only need the control box to dissect. Any model will do at this point as I plan to design it in parametric software which will allow easy modifications for different models.

Cool winter project, huh?

Thanks,

Dan

A Tesoro that doesn't work? Is there such a thing? Just kidding!! Sounds like a great project so keep us updated. Some pics wouldn't hurt either.

Looks like this might be tough to find. No response so far. Maybe there is no such thing as a defective Tesoro!!

Dan,

Somebody could have fallen in the drink or been hit by a roag wave & destroyed their detector (that may not be covered by their warrenty).

If you are just looking for Housing & face plate to use for a template & CNC machine, you might call Tesoro, they might sell you the components to make your waterproof one. Could'nt hurt to ask.

Question how are you going to seal audio jack plug, screw-on coil connector, speaker & potentiometers ?

I may end up contacting Tesoro. Maybe they can pluck something out of the trash for me.

The cables are easy to seal. You can get what you need for that from marine suppliers. The pots will be waterproof ones which are easily available too. As for the speaker, I'm not considering using a speaker. The housing will be CNC machined from black (or maybe a different colour) cast nylon in 2 pieces. They will clip together with an o-ring to seal the 2 halves and will use hasps somewhat similar to what the Tiger Shark uses. I plan to make the housing look pretty sleek, not boxy.
