General Rules

The Finds Treasure Forum Classifieds is for individual use only with the exception of banner advertising buyers. Those buyers may advertise their traded in, discontinued models, etc.

Individual sellers may post their normal unwanted detectors, or accessories in assigned classified forums, but they  cannot exceed (1) one item in a (3) three month period for each classified forum.

Only For Sale, For Trade, or Wanted to Buy ads are allowed.

Only Forum Members Registered for  90 days or longer that have more than 24 significant posts in our other forums, may post For Sale or Trade ads.

Rules for Non Sponsoring Sellers:

  • Items for sale, or for trade, should be your own personal property and be accurately described.
  • Your for sale or trade post should be self contained, without references to another site where you may also have it for sale.
  • Do not put links to eBay.
  • Do not put links to other forums where you may also have the same item for sale or trade.
  • Dealers are not allowed to post in Classifieds unless they are a sponsor.

Advertisements not adhering to the above rules will be deleted without warning or notification.

I'm just getting into MDing at age 60. I've been "window" shopping to educate myself for about month. I've narrowed my search to the Ace 250 or Prism IV. Seems both of these sell for $200 to $250 give or take depending on the package. I don't have a lot of money to spend but the more I read about MDing the more I look forward to getting started. It should fit well with my other hobbies of outdoor photography and fishing.
I'm more of a shopper than my wife LOL.Looking for a deal I can't refuse.
I do have Paypal though I'm not sure how to use it outside EBay. I'm in northern Ky. That's right across the Ohio river from Cincinnati.

Watch out on the 250 - very hard to read as the display is small. And I am 15 years younger than you. I no longer have mine.

Can't comment on the Prizm display.

I would suggest that if you MUST have the 250 that you buy it from a dealer on this forum (new) and they might be willing to work with you to trade back (as a discount) for a better model or another brand. Just something to think about.

If you look about 10 postings below yours, Richard at Backwoods Detector Sales has a used ACE 150. It's close to what you want for about half of what you said you pay. For $115, it's a steal and Richard is a great guy. Ace 150 is easy to use and that might be a good starting point.

Consider I've been doing this for about 2 years and am on my 10th detector. Buy and sell here and elsewhere. My point: first detector is not going to be your last detector.

And, if you buy the ACE 150, and like it, you saved a turd load of $. If you like but decide later to get more advanced machine, it's always a good backup or extra one for a buddy or to keep in the car.

Go with the White's..:usaflag:...The Prizm 4 is a very good detector.....TO ME, it has ID'd target's better than the Ace 250.

Well guys, thanks for the help. The more I read the more confused I get. I do plan to buy used. It seems there are several nice detectors available for $200 - $250.The Ace 250, The Prizm IV and a few others have the features I'm looking for.Each one seems to have its good and bad points and people who like it and others who don't. Since its the middle of winter, I'm thinking I'll watch here,and Craigslist and place low bids on units on Ebay.Then, let Fate decide which detector of the ones I like I end up with. I'm sure I'll enjoy my new hobby which ever MD I get.

Do keep making suggestions and letting me know what you have for sale.

Recently bought an Ace 250 and compared it to some other hi dollar detectors and I got to say it is one sweet little machine for the money. Easy to use and the discrimination tones on all metal mode is very easy to understand, you don,t need to look at the display other than to set it up. It has a doorbell ding dong type ring that is very descerible from the other tones especially if you use headphones with it. This is truly an easy detector for the novice to use right out of the box. Throws some coins and other metal on the ground and listen to the different tones you get, this detector won.t disappoint you. Lot of detector through Dick's website for 212.00 and free shipping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
