WTS - Bounty Hunter TR550-D (anyone into repairing vintage machines?)

What?????? You've never heard of the TR550-D????? That's because it's a classic circa 1980 machine (intro'd in 1977). I think I bought this using my paper route $$ back in the day,

It's powered by three 9 V batteries....... that's right Tesoro Fans.......THREE 9V BATTS...... The thing should be able to detect Chinese (or whatever is around the world from me) mining equipment and the awesome electro mag power aura might even be detectable by satellite when this baby is fired up. I rescued it from a closet in my parent's house and although sweet memories are associated with it, it will just live in a closet in my house until my wife can sneak it into the recycling bin. I know there are some collectors and appreciators of machines here so thought I'd try to re-home it here.

It sports a 6" coil and is a cool shade of red. Has three knobs - Volume, Tuning and Discrimination. One toggle switch for search mode normal or discrim. Has a phone jack but also sports a speaker. There is a retuning button on the handle. I just tried to fire it up...... turns on and tone is produced but stays on. Fiddled with discrim switch,+ knob + tuning knob + retune button..... tone dimmed some but then returned to constant. Retune button did something a couple times. Basically.....it doesn't work but is probably salvageable if someone wanted to give it some love......

My father used it to find a set of keys or two over the years. He also put some packing tape around the box when it loosened from the shaft which left some yellow bands of adhesive on the aluminum box (visible in pictures). I just spent 15 minutes with Goof Off trying to get it off. Looks like it will come off but will need another session or two and as you can tell I'm already getting punchy from the fumes.

Someone actually scanned a manual of this machine, posted here:

So what is the asking price for this vintage/classic/retro/product of days gone by???? Figuring it's going to be about $20+ to ship I'm asking $60 as is (powers up/not functioning as designed). It's probably worth that in scrap aluminum alone!
Ha!!! Too much you say???? Then send me an offer (including random trades of outdoor stuff, knives, coins (wheat pennies/a few scrap silver coins), other shiny objects, headphones, other electronics) that makes it worth me boxing it up and shipping it. I would sleep happy at night knowing that someone is trying to rejuvenate this piece of my past. It has old school electronics that you can actually troubleshoot and repair without a microscope.

Here's some eye candy..

Anyone???
Someone sent me a link to a website where people enjoy older detectors. My wife deleted the email and I would appreciate if anyone knew of the site.. had potential to pass this on there !
