General Rules

The Finds Treasure Forum Classifieds is for individual use only with the exception of banner advertising buyers. Those buyers may advertise their traded in, discontinued models, etc.

Individual sellers may post their normal unwanted detectors, or accessories in assigned classified forums, but they  cannot exceed (1) one item in a (3) three month period for each classified forum.

Only For Sale, For Trade, or Wanted to Buy ads are allowed.

Only Forum Members Registered for  90 days or longer that have more than 24 significant posts in our other forums, may post For Sale or Trade ads.

Rules for Non Sponsoring Sellers:

  • Items for sale, or for trade, should be your own personal property and be accurately described.
  • Your for sale or trade post should be self contained, without references to another site where you may also have it for sale.
  • Do not put links to eBay.
  • Do not put links to other forums where you may also have the same item for sale or trade.
  • Dealers are not allowed to post in Classifieds unless they are a sponsor.

WTT my Cortes for your Minelab

I have a Tesoro Cortes which I love very much, for some reason I am being drawn and having a want to try a Minelab, I am looking at the X-Terra series and may be interested in a trade for a good Minelab X-terra 70 or 505 or 705 or Safari. Complete with stock coil and 4 inch concentric coil. Anyhow just feeling the waters and would be interested in a trade.
 
I understand wanting to try new things. I think with a nice Cortes like that, nothing is going to be gained by going to an Xterra. I have a feeling you will end up coming back to a Cortes in the end.
You asked about the advantage, so I'll just mention that (I have never used the Xterras). The Advantage is a simple detector, very deep. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of the Cortes, but I think the Advantage never really got much respect for some reason, and I have no idea why as it gives great performance. It's a bit of a handful as far as weight and balance, but you can mount them under the rod, or get an aftermarket rod to help out if it's a problem. If you can find one cheap, keep the Cortes but pick up the Advantage and give it a try. I've seen them auction for in the 200 dollar range. That's a lot of detector for the money. People have been snapping them up because ML isn't selling them in the US anymore from what I've read. A shame but they probably weren't making much money on them, not when can sell a new E-trac for 1500. But it's worth watching out for as you may be surprised, and if you don't like it, I doubt you'll have a problem selling it. Just a thought.
 
You might want to stick to your original thought, I own an Ex 70 and like it much better than the Eureka gold that I use to own, it is a great little detector...
