X-1 probe

I invested in one of those X-1 probes, and find it very interesting to say the least, however, I find it a bit too powerful. I chased a penny around for it seems 5 minutes the other day in my miniature excavation. I guess there's no way to really de-tune this beast is it, so it won't detect so far.

Some may use the disc mode to find the coin, but I go into the hole in disc and when I get close to where the coin is I will pull the probe out of the hole. I will switch to pinpoint, then go back in the hole and beable to find the target. If you try to find it in disc it will work, but harder to find the target as there seems to be more signals.

Disc first for ID, then remove and hit pinpoint and re-insert for bullseye location. Then, hit disc, lay probe down and retrieve target. Don't forget to flip switch back to coil while standing back up so you will be ready for next target.
Also, if you are running a high manual sensitivity and experience some falsing while using the X-1, simply push the button to semi-auto while retreiving and then back to manual when finished.

Hunting in my area forces me to use a low sensitivity due to all the iron "filings" in the dirt. Once I locate a target with the big coil, my X-1 won't see it unless I kick up the sens a bunch. I just switch to PP and home in on it that way. I do use the probe on deepies and it tells me if it's iron falsing or a good target quite nicely.
