X-Terra 305 for a 505???

I got a 305 about a month ago and I love the machine!!! BUT after finding out I cant get the 3khz coil for it I am kinda bumbed out. Would it be worth trading my 305 and paying extra $$$ for a 505?

No. It's just another coil. The 305 will serve you well.

Agree with Mick, they are just another tool to have in your arsenal. Nice to have, but not really necessary.

Well my other choice is keeping the 305 and getting the Coiltek 15" coil to go on it.

Here has been my experience when up-grading detectors or coils, you never gain as much as you were hoping for or expecting and if you do it is usually at the expense of something else. So be fore-warned.

Look for a used 705 or 505. That will help some. I have a used 705 coming I think.

If you were going to make a trade, I would trade for the 705 to go with the added features. Don't think it would be worth it to trade for the difference a 505 would offer.

I own a 305 and a 505 and have often considered trading up to a 705...just have not decided to actually do it. The differences gained between the 305 and 505 are nominal. However, the 705 would definitely be a step up. Your 305 makes a great 2nd detector so why not just go with a 705 gold package and have yourself a couple of really good detectors with 2 different interchangeable coils...then find you a 3khz coil to use on the 705 (since the 18.75khz would also work on the 305. You would have quite the arsenal. Just my thoughts.

Oh, in addition to talking with Bart...you might also want to check with Richard at Backwoods as he did have a use 705 for sale on his website.
