There are several posts in the FAQFAQ section pertaining to gold prospecting and the X-TERRA. Also, if you use the Search function toward the top of this page, enter in gold 705, you'll find quite a number of posts from folks using their X-TERRA for gold. I bought the x-terra 705 to be used as my back up gold detector. I also have a gpx4000. I am very impressed with the 705 in its ability to detect gold nuggets. I have found 6 nuggets with it, two of which are around 1grain each. It will take on the Eureka Gold any day. It will find gold as small as Eureka gold will and find it deeper. It is absolutely a dream to operate. Goldseeker4000
