X & Y Screen Question

I was checking it out the other day and it makes no sense to me...lol

Ok a bad target (depends on what it is) goes crazy...

Good target is a line but is it supposed to run (using a clock face) 9 to 3? or say 7 to 2? how about if the line is 11 to 5?

LOL maybe I need to forget this dang thing......

And it has been discussed here on this forum, but that was a while back, well before Andy's book. There was one person here who felt it was key to his success with the Deus. In fact, I think that video was done by him! Glad somebody found it for you. I've tried it, and found it helpful in a few situations. But once I heard about the 4 kHz check for bottle caps, it seemed easier/faster than getting to the XY screen. The other thing I learned was that if you have iron collocated with a good target, the XY screen still looked like junk (to me at least), and I would not have dug. Perhaps I needed to keep at it to see the difference. But I learned that lesson when I found a buffalo nickel. If it had been in a "bottle cap" VDI range, I would have passed it over. Luckily, it was at a different VDI, and it still sounded good, so I didn't know how to interpret it, and I dug it. Not saying you shouldn't use it, but I would recommend still doing a lot of digging initially to see if there are scenarios that fool you, or if you can find a clear visual characteristic to differentiate that situation.

ferrite would go almost vertical - pure reactive ( like soil)

gold may go toward 1-2pm similar to aluminum

copper alloys maybe 45degrees


poor silver 2pm

pure silver almost 3 oclock

guided guesses, I cant do this on the Lite - but the theory is sound

Audio on this machine is great, HOWEVER the x and y screen will save you tons of time in the park, when it comes to bottle caps and pull tabs, I would only use the x and y in heavy heavy modern trashed sites such as a park or ball fields!
