X70 problem code

New member
I have an xterra 70 that comes up with the CU code when I turn it on. I unplugged the coil and plugged it back in, same thing when I turn it on.
I plugged in another coil and the same thing happens.
Looked around the forum and can't find anything about it. Does anyone know of a solution or is this something I have to send back to minelab?

CU means coil unplugged. Since you switched out coils, I would have to guess there is a problem in the unit itself and you are probably going to have to send it in for service but I would call the service center first and explain the problem. Good luck, Nampa 23

i seem to remember a reset code when u change out the coils. I think its in the owners man. First thing take the batteries to reset the machine. Leave them out for a min. And hold down the power button. Then put the batt. back in. sorry if that doesnt help.

Hi Lve2fsh, did you ever resolve this CU code issue on your X-70?

I'm getting the same thing now with X-70. I've also tried it on my second coil but keep getting the CU code whenever I turn it on.

CU code means coil unplugged. If it is doing it with more than one coil, I'd suspect the pins on the coil cord are not making contact in the connnector with the holes where the coil plugs into the housing. Not sure what to tell you to do, other than blow some compressed air into the holes. I won't recommend this, but if it were mine, I'd take the batteries out and spray a little contact cleaner into the little holes where the coil plugs into. Then I'd follow that up with some of that compressed air. If that didn't take care of it, I'd figure I must have pushed something into one of those holes that is making it lose contact when the coil is plugged in. If that is the case, I'd send it to Minelab to have it checked out. HH Randy

Yes I got it fixed.
Sent it back to minelab and they found a broken wire on the connector. They also replaced the battery cover and now I can open it without cussing.
In the process of cleaning up the metal in my back yard for practice.
