Jerry Morris a Octogenarian detectorist on the final swing of the day with his XP Deus last winter season heard a sweet sound on the headset.
A few minutes later he was holding a small copper coin rather like a English 1600`s copper farthing token.
It turned out to be a 1658-59 Lord Baltimore penny minted in London with just a few other samples, due to a shortage of coinage in the Colony for trading tobacco etc.
It has been authenticated by the British Museum experts as genuine and surfaced near the dock of the period, where goods were unloaded from the new world etc.
Funny old game this hobby of ours which never fails to throw up surprises.
Happy Hunting,
Jerry..
