xp deus hf coil question

Hi. All. Just got an XP Deus with 9" round hf coil. Now from my research the hf coils are specifically designed for goldfields and high mineralization. As I detect in the Australian goldfields this is perfect for me. However I am wondering why XP have not made available a larger coil in this range to achieve potentially .ore coverage and depth as they have with the new x35 coils. Anybody know why and if they may provide such coils in future??? Regards to all. Ronnie.

Hi Ronnie

I gold prospect in the Southwestern USA. I have used the Deus and Orx with both HF coils. This is just my opinion from experience. Personally I wish XP would make a smaller HF coil!
In high mineralization, the bigger the coil, the more negative effect the high mineralization will have on VLF detectors and the more targets can be masked. The current HF coils are big enough for any .5 gram and larger nuggets down to 6 inches depth or more. Smaller nuggets are easily detected down to about 4 inches where I prospect. If I need to go deeper I use my PI detector (GPX4800)

Hi. Jeff. Thanks for your reply. Am I right in assuming an x35 large coil would not be a good choice for gold in mineralized soil? I know they can go to quite high frequencies but is basically a low frequency coil. Don't really understand how all that works. If it can be set at high frequency why might it be not as good for gold as the hf coils??? Ronnie.

An X35 9" or maybe the 11" coil running at 27kHz would be a very good gold coil. I tried out the X35 11". In high mineralization I did not see a difference in depth against the 9" elliptical HF or the 9" round HF running at 31kHz. I saw where XP is now marketing the ORX in the USA in two versions: the gold prospecting ORX comes with the HF coil option and the coin and jewelry version comes with a 9" or 11" X35 coil. To me, the best gold prospecting coil would be the elliptical HF with the 9" round HF and the X35 9" being very close 2nd, just because of the smaller footprint, higher frequency capability and the shape for getting into tight spaces. Just my opinion.

Thank you Jeff. I was thinking more of the x35 13 x 11. Might wait and see how others go with these new coils. Regards... Ronnie.
