Xp deus shaft play.

I bought a used XP Deus. When I swing the detector it seems like therevis play in the upper stem assembly. I don't remember any of the Xp Deus that I oened before having any play in the shaft. It has the 11 inch coil on it. It is like the stem is flexing in my hand. Has anyone else noticed this? If so, is it normal or just the weight of the 11 inch coil making it flex?

I notice a little bit of play in the top shaft with the 11" coil when doing the coil wiggle over a target. During normal swinging I hardly notice it. I am not concerned about it personally, and just attribute it to the extra momentum that that heavier coil adds to the end of that ultra light Deus frame.

Mine seems to have play in the handle that you hold on too. It feels like the handle has a flex to it instead of the shaft.

Yeah mine feels like that too. I think it's because it's not a single molded piece construction. When there is a seam or a joint, you are bound to feel a bit of play. I say ignore it completely and go have fun with a great detector. :detecting:

Mama always said.....Don't play with your shaft. :nono:

That is all I have to say about that.

I pull mine apart every few months give it a good clean and then tighten all the screws up nice and tight it helps.

I ended up ordering the stem part with the handle and switching it out. It does not have any play at all. I looked at the old one to see if it had been repaired at some point, but it seems ok. I don't understand why it had such flexing in the handle, but the problem is solved.

After some years the rubber for arresting the stem wears off just like that of laser Printers, also the abbrasive Impact of sand on the plastic stem is not to underestimate. (I lacquered my most effected lower shaft with some thick coat - now it is fine again.
Best greetings from Germany
