XP Icon up Against the Deus 2

The XP icon sells for $699.00 complete with 11 inch coil and wsa-st backphones.

The 4.2 stereo version of the XP Deus 2 with a 9 inch coil and the WS6-ST backphones cost $1699.00

You do have more settings with the tone breaks, an XY screen, equalizer, silencer settings, audio enhancement for the extra $1000.00.

Paired with the same coil size on the same targets and I will say using the backphones I don't think you will miss much using an Icon

Thank you for making those videos Tim----appreciate it.------------Del

Hey Tim.
Watching your video, it struck me that XP is likely following the path previously taken by White's.
Personally, I would welcome the ability to swap search coils between different models.
If XP were to consistently pursue this approach, I could even imagine becoming an XP user myself.
To me, it simply makes no sense to keep buying specific accessories for every single model from a manufacturer.
It’s a waste of money, but the lack of storage space for all that gear is an even bigger issue.
I never would have accumulated so many White's machines if I had needed to find storage space for six times as many coils—or even more.
Thanks for your videos, which have made me think about a few things.
Good job. WTG

Thank you Vito...I appreciate the input. I was a heavy whites enthusiast for many years and the interchangeable coils helped with putting together several coils for different detecting scenerios already attached.

Besides the Ford/Chevy style debate between XP and Minelab, especially since the introduction of the Deus 2 and Manticore, there is one thing that you can do with an XP in which minelab and no other manufacturers can do :

You can take 1 control handle set up with a 9 inch coil and another coil such as the HF2 on your person in a backpack or shoulder pack along with 2 or more controllers ie; Deus 2 remote, icon remote or ws6 module..maybe all 3, two pair of backphones. You can even take an Icon remote and the ws6 module and pair the ws6 module to the icon and search with the backphones paired to the icon. Then, if you have a battery go down or have a custom site specific program saved in the ws6 module you just turn the icon remote off and you have an instant Deus 2.

Plus you can get the puck that mounts the ws6 module on the stem and have it paired to a set of backphones as well.

Also you swap between coils just by selecting the coil number saved in the remote and off you go.

All of this...1 control rod, 2 coils, 2 or 3 remotes and 2 pair of backphones will all weigh about 5lbs or so give or take a few ounces. The extra coil, remotes and backphones will be less than 3lbs.

You would hardly even notice the weight even on your person in a backpack or shoulder bag while you are swinging away detecting.

A forum member here sent me a message asking what the icon remote weighs in the configuration mounted with the 9 inch Deus 2 coil and Deus 2 stem that I used in the video.

With the icon remote mounted on the Deus 2 stem and 9 inch coil it weights 2lb .06oz

Less than 2lbs 1oz....if you had the new designed icon stem or even the ORX stem mounted with the remote and same 9 inch coil it would be less than 2lbs

That is light!

It is an incredible ergonomic and dynamic platform!
