XS Question.."Please" When you change

the Select mode( targets accepted, or rejected) it says at the bottom of page (XS Manual) Page 64.

If select is chosen from the main menu while the Explorer is functioning in Iron Mask the current iron mask thumb nail will be displayed. AS soon as a selection is made from the target list a thumbnail of the chosen discrimination pattern will replace iron mask???? What does this mean..Does iron mask have to be turned back on ???

On page 62 of manual it say......When you enter the select menu and make choices( Target accept, or reject) the iron mask indicator will be automatically
switched to the off position when you return to the smartfind screen.... DO you turn iron mask back on, or leave it alone..Very confusing to a new user.. Help Please...Thank you in advance..I appreciate any and all help.

If your making a Pattern and then Saving it, this will be what is on the Smart Find Screen when you go to push Detect. You are not running in Iron Mask anymore, but a Pattern you designed yourself. If you want to use Iron Mask, you have to push Iron Mask so it is On and choose the amount of Iron Mask you want to use. I would start out with 6, which is the Factory Preset if I remember right. Remember, you will hear every Conductive Target if you are using Conduct Tones. What I mean here is that you will hear Pull Tabs, Screw Caps, you name it. If it isn't Ferrous, you will get a Signal from it. Using a Pattern, you can Discriminate Out Pull Tabs, Crown Caps, Nails, Etc. Only thing here is that you will miss Gold if that is what your looking for. Also, there will be less Signals and More Nulling, like Iron does which I really don't like when hunting. I like to know just how much Iron is present. Hope this helps a bit. Good Luck and HH.

You can toggle back and forth between your set Smartfind discrimination patterns and your Iron Mask Screen (with--for some reason--the IM adjustment screen (at least on the SE) as the 3rd item that you toggle between.

(I wish they'd take move the noise cancel button to something like the bottom right corner--in the dark, or otherwise, not looking, I keep hitting it by accident instead of the menu button and have to wait for the *#)% thing to finish.)
