XS Question

My XS is barely registering as I pass it over coins. There is not the usual sweet fluty tone and the cursor is just below the area of the screen where it usually registers coins. It wasn't even registering pop tops at the beach this morning. I cleaned it thoroughly and used electronic contact cleaner on all the connections. I made sure the coil and cover were clean. When I took it outside to test it, no tone as it passed over a dime. Showed deep depth when the dime was sitting on the grass. Is it time for me to send to Minelab for a "tune up"? Your wisdom and experience is requested. Thanks. ~Rich

I am not sure if you run in advance mode or not...but If I were you I would go thru every thing in the menu and make sure everything is what you want....I have had mine reset back to wierd ....I won't explain why cause that will just make this long.......so check all your preferences and I mean all of them.......sensativity,gain,thresh hold tone and volume,,,,,,,,etc....everything.......what size coil do you have on?

I am not an electronics expert, so My guess is there is a problem with the unit,,,,ps...don't get the stock coil wet....it is not water proof like they say......mine goes nuts now after taking it in the surf....it has dried out and seems to be fine now. Alot of these guys are experts in problems with detectors....I guess you just got to hope someone else responds or just send it in to be checked out.

Thanks. Sorry for the delay in responding...work. I took your advice and I have let the XS sit for a couple of days now and it SEEMS to be behaving better. Will wait for Saturday and see how it acts then. Much appreciated! ~Rich
