XS.... smart or digital ?

He asked a question and every who responded gave their own opinion. If you like digital, then you paid for the machine and use it in digital. I personally check both, NOT all the time, but just to check numbers on my explorer. Sound is first, then smart screen and when I want to notice the numbers I check digital. My personal preference. Don't be so touchy because my post had nothing to do with your post, it had everything to do with Eric asking a question. Honestly I didn't like smart screen when I first bought the Explorer, and for the first few months hardly ever used it, but then when I did use it I could tell when digging a quarter versus a dime or penny just by where it hit on the screen and I liked that, or a deep target that the cursor "bounced" on the smart screen trying to figure out what it would be(even knowing I would dig it because of depth and sound), but those were all my personal preference. I read your post here and know you like digital and don't plan on losing sleep trying to make you change or wanting you to change. Good Luck and hope you're getting out!!

Well this turned out to be quit a discussion. I really did not like the smart mode at first but today I gave it a serious try. I had to adjust the tones so that I would get I high tone on coins and buttons. I worked the smart mode really hard and now I can say that I like it more than the digital mode. BUT...... I lerned that I have to listen for the tones first. I had once that I got a good high tone but the crosshair moved to the left above. I dug it up and it was a nice button. I know now not to rely 100% on the screen

I tend to use both. If I want a bigger clue then I go to the smartfind screen and use the over lay of plastic with sort after targets marked out. I've modified my use of marks now down to a single one. It's not perfect as I've found that the visual information can be way off due to recovering from a previous target, interferance from a nearby target or corrossion caused by the coin I'm detecting. The audio gives you a good idea if it's good or not.

I tell you what king, he dug over 50 gold rings and we don't have an ocean beach near us. He does fill his pouch with trash, but has the goodies to show AND 3 silver dollars last year(2 Morgans and a Peace)!!

I remember that hole you dug looking for that broken gold ring, my daughter almost fell into it!! I did have a rope in the back of the truck if she fell into it!!
