what happens say...i i ground balance a 4 then turn it to 6 or down to 2? or should i just run it where the machine says it is balanced? thanks

If you balance at 4 and dial it down to 2, you're telling the machine to respond ground that is hotter than it actually is. Doing the same but turning it up to 6 is telling the machine that the ground is milder than reality. Both will alter the audio response. It may clean it up, or just as easily mess it up. It's similar to the tracking offset feature on a 705, and it has it's place as a tool in the arsenal. You really need to experiment with it in your hunting conditions to determine whether or not it's beneficial for you, your conditions, and the targets sought.
