And obviously you never used an Xterra. The Xterra's are not slow machines. The FBS machines are slower, I'll agree with that, but if you want to use a detector on a wet salt sand beach, the FBS machines are a better choice.

I have to agree I use to use bounty hunters and they were faster but not nearly as good of detector. I used my 70 at the beach last year and in wet sand salt water it was horrible . But only one foot away it was great I found several coins with mine. It was no good in the water unless I turned the sensitivity in the single digits.

I have used both and the X-terra is not slow !! The knock on Minelabs being slow is because of the FBS units not the X-terra. I have a 705 and it is great and very fast !! I don't beach hunt so can't comment on that but your statement about the speed is wrong !!

705 great in dry sand, maybe not as fast as a fisher or tesoro but faster than a FBS and pleanty fast enough for the dry sand beach.

wet sand 705 not for me.

The X.Terra is a very good beach machine , on the dry that is but on the wet its losses depth as it is not a salt detector. Very sensitive to gold especially in prospecting mode and is very fast though the tones are a little tinny but i have one and cannot fault it on the beach . Had
