Xterra shaft

DirtAngler

New member
Put the 10.5" MF DD coil on my Xterra and noticed it feels nose heavy. I know Morelic and Digger both use straight shaft configurations and am contemplating doing that also. I know it must be a balance issue because Morelic did a weight comparison and it's not that much difference and Digger says it is probably due to the ear location on the coil. Anyway, tonight I played around with reversing the S bend on the shaft and that seems to make it feel more balanced. Anyone else try it this way and what did you think of it.

Dirtangler!

I reversed the s-angle right from start.
For me it feels better balanced that way.
But I think I will go for

After consulting with Morelic and Digger, I decided to try the straight shaft mod. I got a White's M6 middle shaft and put it on. Had to redrill holes in the shaft near the handle because the White's and Minelab holes are located different. Got to say, what a difference in the balance and feel with the straight shaft mod when having the 10.5" DD coil on the Xterra. At first I didn't think it was going to work because of how short the White's M6 middle rod is, but it works great.
