XY screen keeps producing

The XY screen has been doing great for me in the water. My junk percentage has dropped dramatically. And my good finds are growing everytime I've gone out since Jan 1st of this year.

The XY screen just gives a more solid sign of good and junk. I still dig junk...but not near as much. The Deus just keeps impressing.....just an awesome machine.

Nice! Are you strickly runnign XY or switch to it while over a target?

I only use XY screen now....haven't had a reason to use any other screen. XY gives me more accurate info for my type of hunting than other screens. JMO

xp deus xy screen and what the lines tell you: http://youtu.be/izfzu1egbT4[/quote]

Thanks for the video clip......that pretty much sums it up...a video is worth a thousand words of explanation.

I use XY as well, just be sure to dig the squiggly reports as well for a while as there is lots of info in those.

FWIW, and maybe Andy can correct me if i'm wrong, but I think the XY is directly tied to the horseshoe. It's probably a diagnostic/pre-shipment tune screen where the staightline nonferrous (upper right to lower left) reports correlate to the right side of the horseshoe, the ferrous (upper left to lower right) reports correlating to the left and the squiggly/circular etc. correlating to reports that bounce from left to right.

I have a question about using the xy screen. GB seems to be a very important item to keep an eye on, so, is there a way to check your GB without pressing 3 or 4 buttons to get back to you regular screen and then 3 or 4 to get back to the xy screen?
Can you load a program into one of the open slots with the xy screen and then + or - back and forth to your regular screen to check GB?

The XY screen only runs off of what program you are running at the time. Someone please correct me if i'm wrong.

Yes, I understand which program it's running off of, but how do you check your GB setting, if you do.

I run a custom gold program and use tracking...so i dont need to return to GB screen.

Yes, tracking would do it. I use manual so much I forgot about tracking. Thanks! Do you get decent depth with tracking?

I get very good depth using tracking GB. Also XY screen is ok to use, just remember if target is colocated with iron or another nonferrous, the XY results will be skewed, meaning you might not dig a good target because you walk based on XY screen results. For me only used to cherry pick in manicured yard, nothing else.

I use the tones to verify when lines are skewed. It works in the freshwater for me.

Using the XY screen and full tones it is no problem picking out the good targets colocated with iron or another nonferrous target. My main reason for using the XY screen is to avoid digging steel bottle caps and iron.

Tell you what do. Get you a small nail and lay a dime close beside it. Sweep it and watch your XY screen. You will get the high tone, but XY screen will be distorted. I guess you're walking, I'm digging instead.

Audio should always be the deciding factor as to what one digs or doesn't dig, no matter what screen one uses.

The main thing is that as long as the XY method works for you that is all that counts,of course different locations and the type of hunting that other folks do could produce either better or worst result, but for me and my style of hunting over here in the UK i have always been a audio man and not a screen watcher, audio is so much more reliable the deeper you go and the screen becomes more un-reliable and after about the 7-8'' depth range it is in my mind useless. But the audio circuit still provides much more accurate information albeit possibly feinter.

I guess this is possibly why the Deus is so popular because its so flexible in the settings department.

If you use the xy screen in conjunction with audio, even if the screen is skewed a bit, and the id number at the top right, you should still be able to reasonably tell if it's a dig or not dig target. Your not going to get it all, but you should be close.
