Y'all remember last fall when daughter Leanna bagged her first buck....

Well when I left Alaska I sold my big caliber rifles because they were too powerful for anything in Virgina shy of a 500 pound black bear. I then bought this custom Enfield Mauser in 270 caliber. It's a very nice rifle and it's what the girls are using to deer hunt, since I didn't have anything else that was scoped. When we would come in from the woods I would notice a new ding here and there and I decided I really needed to get the girls their own rifle that I didn't care if it got dinged up. /color]

Last week I bought this Remington 700 in 30.06 caliber. Bought it from an old farmer who said he got it to shoot groundhogs, then realized he was too old to see anything out that far. The rifle is like new, not a scratch on it. It even came in the original box with a price sticker, and I paid $85 less than he did for it. This evening I put a scope on it, 3x9x40, and took a couple pictures of it. Now I'm thinking of painting it with some camo paint using leaves and grass to help with the camo pattern. If I do, I'll repost the finished product in a month or two. The girls will be shooting this with an ammo called "Fusion" with 50% less felt recoil. Thanks for looking.

the reduced load '06 rounds are just a little bit more kick that a full .270 round, great for 200 yds or less for deer and have more bullet choices than any other cartridge made, as they grow, so does the rifle, but once it stars, add more rifles....keep the wood stocks if you can...it tells more stories in the end!!!

The Remy 700 is a greatt rifle and with the black composite stock, no more dings.....unless they want to start notching it to keep score. The Rem. 700 and Win, 70 are what the basic modern sniper rifles are made from.....and they came from Mr. Mauser's patten.....as do Enfields.

The old farmer bought a '06 for ground squirrels!!! Good God, he must really hate those things. That would be like using a bench grinder to brush your teeth.
Those composite stocks will be the perfect match for her deer rifle.
Good choice.
