Woke this morning to the sound of the rain hitting the metal umbrellas over our bedroom windows (keeps the sun out). Sure is good to see we are getting much needed rain but looking at the radar at 6:30 this morning most of it has already passed by.

The need for rain is great up here. Had heard northern Michigan has already had one forest fire. (Not sure where it was or how big - thankfully not around here locally).
I am wondering what our plans for today will be at this point. The church is to gather at the Muskegon River at a park and do a baptismal ceremony for any who want to be baptized or who want to renew their dedication to God. A picnic with a roasted pig will follow. With the rain and thunder I'm wondering what our next plans are - we made no back up plans and we won't be able to use the Civic Center today on short notice. The new home for The Gathering (our church) still has a ways to go before we hold services there starting next Sunday. In the meantime there is a huge pig that is waiting to be eaten and lots of people have made dishes to pass...and well I was kinda looking forward to doing some water detecting (time permitting - Casey has to be at work this afternoon).
Guess I will pick another day...like when there isn't a lot of water suddenly rushing downstream from the rainfall...the rushing water might keep us out of the river....along with the thunder and lightning.
Whatever happens it is all in God's hands. Love the sound of that rolling thunder. Have a great day and Mike from MI it looks like you're gettin some much needed rain too.
