Year End Totals

I know, I know, it really isn't the end of the year. But I don't do so well in the cold, used to work for a lumber yard and got frost bite in the hands, they get real cold real easy. We cleaned and packed away the machines and dream of the warm spring days to come and signal the beginning of another season of detecting.

This is our first year of detecting, and it has been a blessing for both of us. We hooked up with a nice detecting club (Mike from MI and Greg From MI are members also) made some new amazing friends, this forum has been a great place to come to. All the time we have spent together has been priceless.

One of the things I like about this forum is seeing what everyone is finding and thought I would share what we have found this year.

Clad:

Silver Quarters 1 oldest is 1951

Rings: 1 10k gold, 1 silver, 5 sterling silver, 1 stainless steel, 1 copper, 2 costume

Boy Scout: Bolas 2 Badges 1 Flag Standard Plate 1

Notable Misc. Items: Train Hat Pin, Dragon Pendant, 2 Metro Transit Tokens, 2 Chuckie Cheese Tokens, Necklace-deer bone with turquoise stone, necklace- sterling silver cross with small stones, Nike Bawlmer Shoe Plate (expensive shoes that have a plated metal tag; Bling), Prada Clip, Dollhouse sized Table, railroad spike, vintage padlock with chain. Along with a bunch of other stuff and a ton of trash.

Oh Yeah, 12$ in cold hard cash, bills found on the ground or stuck in a bush.

It was a great first year, we truly enjoyed it. We bought a water machine alittle late in the season so we are looking forward to more water hunting next year. We are taking advice from knowledgeable people and are looking for older sites to hunt next year. Won't give up on the tot lot, am inspired by the intrepid hunter we know so well in AZ and all the stuff he finds. If any of you have any research tips or techniques you would like to share, would love to hear about them.

How about anyone else, any year end totals or summaries you'd like to share?

Thanks for being such a great collection of people on this forum,

Brian and Anna

Good going Brian and Anna on all the nice finds and the coin count and the best of blessings you both got out of detecting together was being with each other and enjoying being outdoors with God's creations to see and next year you can enjoy water hunting as well as land :twodetecting:
Hope you stay warm, well and a joyous winter inside looking out and may Spring be here before you both know it! :) God Bless! Betty

If you think you have a good old site better let a fellow club member, say myself, go check it out first so as you dont waste your time
Hope to hunt together more next year. Maybe even make a bottle digger out of you yet
Greg

if you are asking about the train hat pin, it was found in a field that was used as a flea market for the antique tractor and engine club.

any secrets. I find a good spot, I will call you and we can check it together. Looking forward to more digs together.

Just one thing! We still have like 31 days left and then Jan 1st it starts all over! Not sure I know the meaning of put it away!
You guys did really well. Congrats to you both. If ya want research tips, let's sit down and I will give ya a bunch! :)

Question....Is there such a thing as a logger's spike? I thought all the spikes were railroad spikes driven into ties! Now I've heard of wedges to split the logs to make ties! Am I learning something new at my age?
