Checked the yard today and the digger went all the way in! :) Shaded areas and a few spots near the leftover "BEEP" was a little frozen still! The kids wanted to go to the ball field to work on pitching and hitting. So I figured we would kill two birds with one stone. We went to where the 1st forum hunt was held. I have dug many a keeper from there over the years, plus there is a big baseball field there for the kids. It only took a few minutes to notice that the ground was still froze there! :( My first dig was a round pull tab, and it was a little work to get it out. I headed to the other end to see if the drainage was better there. I got a nice tone, and dug slowly through the frozen dirt. Then I checked it with my probe and got a sweet silver tone! :) About 5 or 6 inches down out pops my first silver of the year! WOOOO HOOOO!!!! A 1947 Rosie! I re-check the hole and get another tone just like the last! NO WAY! Out pops silver number two! WOOOO HOOOO!!! A 1946 D Rosie! A little later I found a less frozen area, but a little hard yet. My next coin signal and it was a 1945 Wheat penny. A little more time goes by and the kids were bored, so we began to head towards the van. DING! a deep nickel tone. Worked through the frozen soil while my son watched, and BINGO!! a 1936 Buffalo Nickel! Yeah Baby! It just happened to be my son's favorite coin! I trolled my way back to the van and headed home. 4 coins only, but all keepers! I did dig about ten trash signals. It was a very good 1 1/2 hours, considering I have not been out in 60 days! And trust me that almost killed me! :)

managed about 2.00 with the only oldie being a wheat 1953. great to get out. glad you got out mike, i know how you feel.

a little jealous  still have lots of the white stuff up here. One thing I am not missing is the inner city trash that was buried in the snow and gets uncovered when the snow has melted. Only trash we find up here is usually along the expressway as tourists stop at McDs and BurgerKs then get miles down the road to throw their trash along the expressway on their way back to their 'trash' city called home to them.

Guess they don't care this is our home and they leave their trash for us to clean up.

Given enough time I'll be out detecting. Maybe one day soon I can get down your way and you can give me some tips on the Exp.

Love seeing those oldies Mike.

Come on down and I will help you out with that machine! :)

getting out is half the fun! :)

sticking close to home....Sherry may need to go to the hospital at any time and need to be here to drive her or I'd make plans to come down to see ya. Sherry is my first concern right now...She has been in so much continuous pain and living life on pain pills is not living. Tomorrow we go to Clare to see a surgeon about running a camera down her esophegus to see what he can see...but this isn;t to do the work just to talk = who knows when they will do the scope thing.

Please keep her in your prayers. Personally I don't know how she can be in so much pain for so long and not be grasping people by the neck and shaking them to their senses.

I feel much better now, but can't wait to go again! :)

be praying for her. I didn't mean come down right away, just make plans when you can and I will set up a hunt.
