Yesterday with the 10.5 coil

It was a decent day considering I usually don't get to hunt in February. Although I can't detect everywhere I want... something is better than nothing. The site I went to yesterday is an older school that was built in 1933. I have found alot of decent coins in there. I was just curious as to if I could pull any more out. I started digging the 'hard' hitters that were only hitting from one direction. If I rotated they disappeared... but I pulled out some wheaties close to iron and in one case a 1 inch nail was very close. After I found a couple of coins close to iron I started to figure I was going to dig anytime the 3D gave a consistant high tone even if I couldn't rotate. I ended up finding quite a few coins that were hiding up against trash. I found a 1883 V Nickel in very nice shape right up against a round pulltab. The 3D would go to a high tone just at the front tip of the coil. All I can say is I love that high tone in trash. No silver but we have pounded this site pretty hard. I have the SunRay 12.5 to test there sometime I get a chance. I think I may end up buying hockey puck. I think I may have to build a box to hold all of my coils... <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> HH!

Bill,
Congrats on the V nickel! Better yet, congrats on being able to get out!!!
When my buddy and I had CZ5's we never considered an area "hunted out" until we had been thru it from several angles with the 10.5" coil. It is surprising how many mid depth and deeper coins it will find that other coils miss and as you noted most of them will be one way repeaters only.
Tom.

You made a few nice finds! I used the 5" last Saturday because the coins were so close together, much easier to pinpoint with when there are a lot of targets. HH, Mike
