So, yesterday, there was a work bee down at our community park. People from the valley go down once a year and clean the park up....broken branches, miscellaneous garbage, ..all this sort of stuff needs to be done to get it ready for the campers who come here in the summer.
So we haul our bobcat down and while Alice drives it, I am guiding her in getting the odd tree out, levelling groung and the like. However, in the parking lot there are those dividers that stop you from driving over the edge and prevent people from hitting each other.
During the winter, some of them got moved during the snow scraping and our job was to pick them up and put them on the guide spikes in the pavement.
Alice would drive up to them, lift them with the bucket and i would wrap the chain around them. She would then drive to the place where it was to be put, and I would guide it onto the spikes. On the last one [luckily] as we were just getting the barrier set on to the spikes, I noticed a few ants around.
Now when I was guiding the barriers down, I had to get as low as I could to see if the spikes were going into the holes. This meant lying on the ground. So, on the last one, I got up, felt a little crawling and asked Alice to look on my back. Hah!!! it was covered with ants, as was my hair, and all sorts of other places I will not mention.
I pretty much stripped down, shook all the clothes and hair, and we set to again.
However, I was the butt of jokes for the rest of the day <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt="
