One merc. and a few wheat's. The site has given up the last of its treasure. I will try the Etrac there when I get one. Let 's see how much difference there is. Depth will be the factor.

I envy you with your site, I have a new SE Pro, and am thinking about getting the GF a Safari, so we will be on a pretty even playing field, she uses my old Garrett 1350.... NOT EVEN CLOSE to a Minelab!! We have been hitting a site in Hernando Mississippi that had a CW battle nearby that we are still searching the Or's to try and figure out where it was, and the house site we are hunting was used as the hospital after the battle, it was built in 1849 and is still standing. You would think there would be a TON of history to dig up, but all we find is iron bits EVERYWHERE literally 7~8 per swing, we are almost hunting in a total null. In the last 3 months we have found 3 coins, a 1980 dime, 1976 penny, and a 1979 penny. I found 1 Merill carbine bullet, fired and severely deformed. Other than that, more bits of unidentifiable melted metal, nails, broken razor blades, etc. Last Friday was "lock parts day". All I could seem to find was pieces of steamer trunk locks, diary lock parts, hasp parts etc, all non ferrous. Enjoy your site my friend, I got my first detector in 1986, a Garrett master Hunter 5, and I am STILL looking for my FIRST SILVER!!! - I was just thinking, WOW, I really suck at this, don't I ??? HH Joe

You don't suck friend. You are in a difficult site. But you are digging targets. You will pop a good one soon if the site holds one. This site I have been hunting is one of many. I use it to test new detectors. It is loaded with iron but only a small amount of modern trash. It has been hammered with all the newer Fishers and the Safari. What surprised me was after all the signals dried up along comes the Safari and I start finding allot of missed pewter buttons in all the iron. I use zero disc. and hunt with two tones. Lucky? Maybe.

JOE if you want some silver hit an old school yard!!!!!You woulden want to sell that garrett ADS 5??????

Sounds like you have what you need... Experience!! This site is loaded with iron, but also has a LOT of old and fairly modern junk too. Since it is still occupied I find the canfetti, and the occasional beavertail, etc. I think what is nailing me the most is not enough experience with my machine. If I were only coin hunting I would go for the tones that are one sound back and forth, but not knowing what a harmonica reed sounds like on the SE Pro, I am pretty much digging everything non ferrous, and finding tons of JUNK!! Let me know if you need the Andrew Jackson token from the "Shell's Mr President coin game".... I found one :clapping: I have gotten to the point of bringing my trash back home so I can bench test with it and try and at least learn what trash sounds like. HH Joe

Hey "joeinmemphis". If you just bought the SE Pro, I don't think it get's any better than that. I have the "good old" Quatro, but to me the SE Pro, might just be the highest end detector there is on this planet, or at least a "pretty darn good detector", but............. I hear your frustration dude! I don't care what kind of detector you have, if you've hit a site "hard" and it's just not "giving up" the goods you think it should give up, THAT'S FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!!! I hear ya. I feel for ya, but, you know, you just gotta "go on" and either grid it a different way, or give it up and move on to the next site. I think we all, (or at least I do) somehow think that every "old" site should bring in some old coins, artifacts, etc. but you know, I've been to some really old sites and haven't found Jack shi (blank blank)!!!!!!!!!! I think it's just whatever happened at that site that makes all the difference in the world. Either people lost stuff or they didn't!!!!!!!!!! At least that's how I see it, but I'm sure rooting you on, and I think you have the right detectors to do the job, just keep on HUNTIN', BROTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Marc Trainor.
