Yet another X-50 question...

When the 50 came out, I thought many had said that the higher frequency coil would allow people to nugget hunt with it. But now I see that many people say that the 70 is the only way to go for prospecting. Can the 50 be used as a nugget hunter, in the manner the MXT is, or is it just a theoretical possiblity to nugget hunt with it? Like Poorman, who posted below, I would like to hunt eastern Oregon ghost towns with something that can coinshoot/relic hunt, but I would also like to do some light prospecting with it too. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi,

Yes, you can find gold nuggets with the X-Terra 50. But the true all-metal prospecting mode on the X-Terra 50 is considerably more powerful than the "discriminate mode with all segments set to accept" all metal mode on the X-Terra 50. The Prospect Mode on the X-Terra 70 gives the MXT a real run for the money.

Hello rentasquid, yes you can absolutely nugget hunt with the 18.75kHz concentric coil. It is very sensitive to small gold and silver. Yes, the 70 has some additional software features, but I gotta tell you, feel confident nugget hunting with your 50 and the 18.75kHz concentric coil.

Have you been able to get into Moore Creek and check out how the X-T 70 handles the hot rocks?
