Omega Operation ........................ How have you had success hunting coins with the Omega

What settings gets the best smooth operation.... any secretes for improving depth..What ever you can suggest would be helpful to me.

I use the 11" DD coil,
Default tones,
I run the sensitivity upper towards 70, or as high as I can according to to much chatter.
If I'm looking for deep silver in a park, I usually disc out the lower conductor range, I'll try for the jewelry and Nickels another day.
If your going for the deeper coins then a good set of headphones will also help, the Omega has really good modulated audio so deeper will be fainter.
Like most detectors, the Omega has a little trouble LOCKING solid on an ID number when they get deep, but if you cross sweep the target and it routinely hits that high tone and its faint dig it!
Reports have it that the 11" DD coil has problems discriminating those rusty bottle caps, so if your in an area where bottle caps is a major problem then you may want to just start off with a concentric coil, "Monte" I believe likes the round 8" on the Omega.

I tried the NEL sharpshooter but I had to go back to the 11" DD I just got to use to it I guess.
I really would like to try out the Greek 5"X 10" DD, but money is my problem, and I've pretty much cashed out everything I can.

Omega absolutely loves round things! It's the best coinshooter out there next to the Etrac. IMO Just because etrac has a bit better depth. For me the ID is great all the way to edge of depth. 1 and 2 tone is a 1/2" deeper and little quieter.

By selecting sites with the most potential, mounting the best coil for the conditions, using the least amount of Discrimination I can tolerate, and taking my time while being patient and thorough in my sweep coverage.

What settings gets the best smooth operation....

To me, "smooth operation" means hunting without too much Sensitivity to maintain little or no EMI chatter. Settings vary. If hunting an expected dense scattering coin site, such as a woodchip or sand-filled playground, I prefer the round 8" Concentric coil. The stock elliptical Concentric is 'OK,' but the round 8" gets slightly better depth and is quicker to pinpoint with..

I usually set the Discrimination at '1' but might increase it to no-more than '16' to '17' which would be iron nails rejection. The highest stable Sensitivity setting, and I prefer the 4-Tone Audio ID. If I am in a very dense trash environment, closely spaced, such as hunting close to picnic tables and blanket spots, or if working a site with a lot of metal structures and I want to work as close to them as possible, I switch to the 5" Double-D search coil.

If searching a "typical" Coin Hunting area, such as an open grassy park or school sports field, beach, or other more open/less trashy site, I prefer the d2 2-Tone Audio ID.

any secretes for improving depth..

As much Sensitivity as you can, use the '1' Tone or '2' Tone [size=small](my preference)[/size] Audio Tone ID, and do not sweep too fast as this is a 2-filter design that doesn't handle a lot of ground signal with a too-fast sweep speed. I am not a big fan of "depth discussions" because most good targets are not all that deep, and ground conditions can vary from site-to-site.
