What has happened to minelab

7centsworth

Well-known member
They quit sponsoring the forum. Is this a sign of the future? I hate to see them quit sponsoring. But who knows maybe they will pick it back up.

That must be why we are at the bottom of the forum list, after Civil War forum

follow the money... I wonder what Garrett's price was .for that double whammy

Yep. The minelab name will probably disappear later too. Be these forums is why I bought my minelab. But hey we can still post our finds and talk about our minelabs they just don’t sponsor anymore. It a just weird I have been a member a long time and they have always been at the top of the forum. And now we don’t have to worry about comparison.

It could be they don't want to support people talking about their poor workmanship. As far as the units leaking, coil ears breaking, shafts wobbling, units needing burping, arm cuffs breaking and so on.
While most do talk about these problems most also talk about how it's the best all around machine on the market.
The quality issues wouldn't be talked about if they didn't exist.

Neither will their sales?

Minelab is certainly not hurting for money and should have no business reason to not support this forum. Maybe it is something else like the many Minelab haters on this forum. I have had trouble with a metal detector from every major brand in the USA and abroad and have had to send detectors in for warranty work. That just goes with the territory.

Minelab and White's have made my favorite detector's and are the ones I still use the most along with the XP ORX. If I have to go hunting in some hidden place for topics on Minelab detectors like I have to do for White's, I'm outta here..........

Minelab is still on the current list of sponsors. Look for yourself.

I was told by a high up on this forum and I know it to be 100% correct. That they aren’t sponsoring at the moment.

My understanding is that Minelab was told that renewal payment was to be received by a certain date. Minelab sales personal never responded to numerous emails that we sent to them, other than to say that information was sent to head of sales. We are hoping that Minelab comes back on board in the future.

But those other detectors don't cost 5 times their worth.

Depends on how you define 'worth'.

They say the $1,000 iPhone X has about $370 worth of parts. Is it 'worth' $1,000?
Is ANY phone 'worth' $1000??
I certainly don't think so....but millions of other people disagree with me, and gladly pay that every day.
(Which I still think is crazy, lol.)

So perhaps 'worth' can be defined more objectively by the public's decision to purchase....as opposed to this old curmudgeons subjective opinions, lol.

In the collectibles world, there's an oft-repeated saying about worth (especially when a person has an inflated sense of the price an item should bring) :
"Anything is worth exactly what you can sell it for, today....not a penny more, and not a penny less."

Since dealers are still selling the Equinox every day, I guess it must be 'worth' every penny.
Just my opinion,
:)

Trojdor , I agree with you . In Australia by far the most popular coin and relic detector .
Competitive price helps sales , but success drives sales further .

Cheers

I for one have no problem with the price of a new detector that's only going to pay you back in finds! cell phones are the most insane products per cost!
I have never owned my own personal computer never will leave that to my wife for work as a business expense.
But I have emailed minelab with a question and someone will respond weeks later!!!???
That's not very good customer service!
But it finds lots of coins and gold which has more than paid me back for my detector
So I take care of my equinox and it keeps repaying me...

I beat my equinox to death for 2 years, yes i did get a carbon fiber shaft but can say its taken a beatin with no problems at all, no water leaks either..just sayin i know alot of people talk about it being fragile but in my case its held up perfect.

Yes on how good Minelab detectors have been to me as well!......So far I think they have the best technology up to date. The only beef I’ve had has been the weight of their equipment. In my opinion I think other brand users are envious or haters of Minelab. I sure hear a lot of non users talking trash about them on YouTube. Why I don’t know? I know I’ve hunted in the beginning with other known brands and all I’ve noticed is Minelab has flat out kicked their butts in performance from my experience!!....But then again opinions vary!
